Tubular Flow Reactor
The Tubular Flow Reactor teaching unit allows to study the reactions which can occur in a tubular reactor using the tubular flow method. The chemical tubular reactor is widely used in the industrial practice because it is easy to be made and has good conversion yield that can be got by recirculating the mixture. The unit has been designed to realise an absolutely turbulent flow inside the reactor: two reagents are continuously fed and the obtained reaction is homogenous and approximately isothermal. The system has been designed to study second order reactions (for instance between caustic soda and ethyl acetate), but it allows to study first order reactions, as well (for instance hydrolysis of acetic anhydride).
