A newlydeveloped vane-type oil pump with demand-driven quantity regulation and twomap-controlled pressure stages is used in the new 6- and 8-cylinder V enginesfrom Mercedes Benz. This controlconcept allows the engine lubricating and cooling points to be suppliedindependently of engine load and engine speed absolutely and with asignificantly lower drive power particularly in the part-load range than wouldbe possible with a non-controlled pump. The pump is easy to turn.
